About Marcus Clayton

Born in South Gate, CA. Costa Rican on my mom’s side. Black on my dad’s side. A bunch of stuff happened for a while. Got a Bachelor’s Degree at Cal State Long Beach, then a Master’s of Fine Arts at the same school. Taught English Composition at various Southern California Community colleges. Currently enrolled in the University of Southern California’s PhD program in Literature and Creative Writing. ABD af. My studies focus on intersections between Latinx Literature, Black Literature, Decolonization, and Punk Rock. It is nice. I live in a garage in Downey, CA, with my partner because the economy is garbage. I play music, am perpetually plagued by existential dread, and have a pug named Darby (pictured in “Contact Me”). There are probably other things, but you’re here to stalk me or read my work, neither of which require you read this biography. My first full length book, ¡PÓNK! will be out soon. Also, I like pizza. That’s the most important fact about me.
